scribble and scratch Rub-on Update

Rubwerx01_1Just received word that our patiently waited for ’scribble and scratch’ rub-ons have been delayed at the manufacturer - <sigh>!

Apparently there was a HUUUUUUGE job before our and much of the job (some 30%) was not up to quality control standards and was basically tossed out, forcing them to re-run the entire job and thereby delaying ours.

We anticipate shipping the rub-ons by early October. Thanks for being so patient everyone… You’re gonna love these, the quality is 2nd to none!

New Orleans and Gulf Coast

I just wanted to extend my and my hubby’s sympathies and well-wishes to any/all people touched by the horror of Hurricane Kat.

We’ve been watching the news and websites since hearing about Kat last weekend and cannot believe A: the destructiveness of the storm and B: the horrorific aftermath and C: the lack of services available throughout the rescue operations. Seeing what’s happened and continues to happen in New Orleans is sobering because we live in Richmond BC (also below sea level) and have a dyke system to prevent flooding. It’s definitely given us and the City we live in some pause.

Our biggest fear here though is an earthquake… the entire City we live in could experience ‘liquifaction’ (the dissolution of land in water) because we’re basically an island made up of silt, peat and soil at the mouth of the Fraser River and Strait of Georgia (Pacific Ocean). We worry about massive flooding if there is a significant earthquake… our only benefit is that although we are considered below sea-level, we are not significantly below and we’re flat and our pumping system is elevated 10′ off the lowest grade on a dyke system (hopefully giving us enough time to start pumping out).

Anyways… we wanted you folks in the USA to know that we are fearful for you, send you much support (prayers and $$) and wish you nothing but safety and security in your desperate, uncertain times. Be sane, be smart and please be safe everyone…

The Killers

I bet that title go your attention! Well… I have just discovered the coolest band ever and am telling everyone I know to get this cd. The Killers cd "Hot Fuss" (featuring the huge hit ‘Mr Brightside’) is, excuse the pun, a KILLER CD!!

BrandonflowersI love this group and this sound so much. Being a child/teen of the 80’s this cd appeals to me the way nothing has in the music industry lately. The band has a decidely UK late 80’s sound with a harder edge almost verging on grunge. A really cool hybrid of synth and hard guitar lines that makes me want to get up and jump, dance, spin… and just MOVE! ‘Mr Brightside’ is infectious and I dare anyone to not tap their foot, hand or finger to this one - it’s completely impossible. The fact that the lead singer is a total hottie doesn’t hurt either LOL!

This is the FIRST band in ages I’d actually pay money to see… the gig would be amazing, high energy and dancing in a mash pit would be a necessary evil I would actually consider =)

RUN don’t walk and BUY this cd… it’s an urban 80’s kid’s dream come true!
