Bexworklbdd062Last month at CHA, we had a hilarious time photographing people standing behind the lifesize PoppetTM cut-out we brought for the booth. Everyone who wanted to, had their photograph taken with our PoppetTM Girl. If you are one of our PoppetTM Girls, please visit the following link to check out your photograph by clicking here.

The pictures are so cute and funny… We hope you like them!

Spring is springing in Vancouver

Another wacky day in paradise…

In vancouver BC we always get at least one week of completely wacky weather before the official beginning of Spring in the city. Well this is that week!

Two days ago the West Coast had a major windstorm which knocked out power in the parts of northern Washington (our shipping location) so after the 30 minute drive to Point Roberts, I arrive only to find that there is no power. The postal people told me they had no idea when it will be back on (was on briefly but had a power surge and set the transformer outside the post office on fire ACK! so it was out again..) so I had to take my 15 boxes and assorted mailer envelopes BACK across the border unmailed (that was a fun explanation!) only to schedule a return trip for today - Friday.

Yesterday (when the above photo was taken) was sunny, WINDY, rainy and snowy all at once. You could look in each direction of the sky to see a different weather system approaching. Very cool, but very weird too. I knew yesterday we’d be in for an interesting Friday and was I right…

Well, this morning I get up to find not only is it freezing cold, but it has snowed and there are threats of snow all day today. So basically I’m screwed shipping wise again for US and International customers!  Snow in Point Roberts messes everything up. They are located on a major hill/cliffside penisula off the south western tip of BC, and local drivers simply CAN’T drive in our slushy snow. I personally have no problem driving in it (learned how to drive in Vancouver’s worst winter in 20 years), but many of our new immigrants and locals can’t seem to understand how to drive in slushy, icy conditions, making driving hazardous… even with there is only 1" of snow on the ground. Ridiculous I know… but I’m NOT taking my life in my hands driving 30km to the border only to get creamed by a newbie driver, who slams on their brakes to avoid hitting me and then ends up t-boning me anyways! Been there, done that, no doing it again! So Friday shipping day has been rescheduled to the weekend and Monday.

In other news… I’m teaching on Sunday at a local store - the coolest store in Vancouver in my humble opinion… Ruby Dog’s Arthouse on Main St. and 32 Ave in Vancouver.  I’m teaching a class called the Quiltlet Box. It’s about creating mini fabric collage quilts and the how to assemble and piece them together in an adorable box for holding special treasures, or converting into a funky purse. It’s a great class and I really get a kick out of what everyone creates!

Also… we’re going to be having our Spring WAREHOUSE Sale in our home studio at the end of April. Date and time to be annouced next week. Watch this blog and our website for details.

Lastly… we’ve just finished switching hosting companies for our main website lazarstudiowerx.com, so if you run into any glitches please, please let me know. I’m trouble shooting this weekend to try a address all the little things that need to be updated. Thanks in advance.

have a great weekend everyone! hope you have a creative and restful time =)
