Another digiWERX Collection..
posted by: admin in StudioWERX on 07 31st, 2006 | | No Comments »

VintagebrocadeThis time I’ve gone traditional.. vintage inspired, richly hued, with layered historic embroidery and brocade patterns. Perfecto for those heritage pages, collage elements in altered arts projects and for use with vintage ephemera.

The Vintage Brocades Collection is now available online. Purchase the entire collection or individual digital designs.

New digiWERX paper!
posted by: admin in StudioWERX on 07 30th, 2006 | | 1 Comment »

Hey all…

UrbanbabypackageJust wanted to post our 1st new collection of digiWERX digital papers.

Our
digital papers are created using the same method employed in the design
of our printed scrapbook papers, then ‘tweaked’ with additional digital
elements. All our paper designs start as hi-resolution scans of
original works of art, handpainted by me, using
heavy-body acrylic paint, watercolors and other mediums in their creation. Textured and highly
pigmented, our digiWERX papers bring freshness to the art of digital
scrapbooking by providing lush textured surfaces, organic and
handpainted patterns, tied together with a carefully selected palette.

Our first collection is called Urban Baby and I’ve had this luscious roll of canvas sitting on the back burner for a while… so, instead of keeping it all to myself, I’ve decided to release it as our first digiWERX digital scrapbook paper collection.

The collection features 8 handpainted,
textured digital paper designs with a twist on traditional baby/toddler
colors, imagery and texture. Baby pinks, baby blues, white, pale yellow
and green make this sophisticated baby collection a must for any
cosmopolitan, fashionable baby =)
and hey, it’s just plain CUTE with
your favorite baby photos!

The collection is now available exclusively through our online store at: digiWERX Paper, Urban Baby Collection.

WOW… shocker…

Did see that one coming. I fully expected Josh or Zayra to go tonight.
Patrice pulled one out of the sky tonight and killed it. Zayra, again, saves her skin for another week…

Poor Phil… oh well, I’m sure some lovely ladies will ease his pain.

Rockstar: SuperNOVA Week 4
posted by: admin in Uncategorized on 07 26th, 2006 | | No Comments »

9390991_1_2They’re baaaaaack… time for the weekly rock concert in our living room.

Another good one tonight. Some surprises [Dana], some disappointments [Patrice] and the usual stellar performances by my faves [Lukas and Dilana]

204a_lukas_dilana_0305First the good stuff… As usual Lukas and Dilana were the pair of rockers to beat. Lukas killed with a gritty version of The Verve’s ‘Bittersweet Symphony‘. All the boys loved it, except Newstead who claims that he is still troubled by gravelly voiced Lukas’ vocals. Dude… the guy has been singing like that for 15 years, me thinks he know what he’s doing!

Then of course, the tattooed and ever-so fierce Dilana [love her!] surprisingly did Cyndi Lauper’s ‘Time After Time‘. Quite a departure from her previous song selections… and accoustic to boot. Brilliant as per usual. Navarro loves her, as do the boys. She’s just so professional, gifted and interprets the songs with such uniqueness. I love it.

Surprises tonight included Dana, performing Pearl Jam ‘About a Girl‘ and accoustically. Great job, very surprising and definitely her best effort yet. She confessed to chugging a beer before the show - hmm… maybe she should do that every show!

Patrice is beginning to bored me, much like she is starting to bore the boys - Navarro in particular. A little surprising, and I think she took the band’s critiques personally [the results show should be interesting!]. Josh is the most vanilla dude… and he challenged the boys on his soul/rhythm style and why that couldn’t work with SuperNOVA; the guy has rocks in his head… ’cause he certainly can’t rock on the stage!

Zayra - crazy chick that she is - was dressed in some god awful super-HO outfit that I’m sure impressed the boys ‘physically’, but didn’t help her sing any better. Navarro suggested she pursue a solo career… is that his polite way of saying she’s just too weird and eccentric to work with anyone other than herself? Hmmm… Tommy mentioned the last time he saw anyone in an outfit like that was after a crazy night of sex, when he woke up with bite and heel marks all over his body. Kinky!

Predictions for bottom three: Patrice, Zayra and Josh.
Prediction on WHO is going home… Zayra - what a freak show LOL =)

My friend Carmi just got home from CHA, and emailed me to say that she had seen my 4 page article in the September issue of Memory Makers Magazine! OHMIGOD I’m so excited!

The article is a new feature in the magazine called ‘Off the Page’ and is about alternatives to traditional layout oriented scrapbooking. I usually don’t scrapbook traditionally [who me?] so this feature in the magazine is right up my alley. The article I submitted was based on my ever so non-traditional layout designs using chipboard coasters and how I frame them, gallery style, for display in my home. They liked the idea and voila… an article is born =)

So… since I can’t seem to get this issue in my hands here at home yet, I begged Carmi to scan them for me. She did and here they are, for me to share with you…

Can I just say "WOOOOOOOO HOOOOOOO!".

The magazine editor did a fabulous job with the layout of the article, photographed my artwork really well [thank you!!] and actually used most of the copy I sent them for the piece [thank you again!].
I’m just so thrilled to have this in their magazine [can you tell?!?]. Thank you MM magazine for making my weekend. YOU guys ROCK!

Today was my friend Janice’s son’s birthday today… Matthew [Mafew as we call him] turned 2.
The party was held at a large park in New Westminster about 20+ minutes from our house, near the playground that, thank god, has a spray park [another HOT one today weather wise… 32C with high humidity!]. Much splishing, splashing and fun was had by all!

Here are some of the kiddies having a grand old time… The rest of the photos are available in my album list.

Sometimes my job is really cool…

Sometimes my job is really cool… for example, today. Gorgeous weather, LOADS of local outdoor events happening this weekend and I [parks photographer at large] get to go and shoot hundreds of photos for the City. Too cool!

Here are some of my favorite shots from the Nations Cup 2006 Soccer event in Richmond. These were taken at Minoru Park on both the artificial and natural turf fields:

Also… we have the Richmond DragonBoat Festival on this weekend along the Middle Arm of the Fraser River. Loads of people - both spectators and participants - and it was nice to be by the river on this hot hot day. Here are some of my favorite shots:

Dragonboating

and of course… how can I not include the Richmond Animal Expo? A silly and eductional day of dogs, cats and more at South Arm Park. There was a fashion show [yes! puppies in dresses and hats!], a canine agility contest and obedience lessons. These are my favorites from this morning at the park:

Enjoy and thanks for looking =)
