Recap and Elimination night…

Well, I wasn’t surprised to see Storm and Ryan in the B3, but I was a little surprised about Dilana. Clearly there has been backlash against her antics this week and last week… She’s gonna have to backpedal really fast to save face and stay in this competition.

I wasn’t surprised that Ryan was chosen to go. He was almost TOO intense and way too over the top in his performance. Gilby looked bored and unimpressed, as did Tommy. Jason looked a little disappointed in the display of public drinking with the champagne spray and then the subsequent guzzling by the other rockers… NOT cool! Especially on TV during prime-time… Also, he wasn’t all that gracious about leaving and basically said that he was the best, without actually saying he was the best.  KWIM? He sounded pretty bitter and almost confrontational. Again, a sign that this dewd is just not right for the guys…

20060827_episode209b_0386Lukas was AWESOME front SuperNova [me thinks a little taste of what’s to come <wink wink nudge nudge>]. Toby was good too in the encore… but in my humble opinion, Lukas is definitely the dewd for SuperNova.

Interestingly at the end of the show, after Ryan got the boot, Storm look really surprised. I think she fully expected to be the one to leave. She will probably be the next to go IMHO, I think the fat lady is warming up already…

As a side note: the ENTIRE cast of Rockers left on the show are each from a different country. Interesting huh?

  • Magni: Iceland
  • Storm: USA
  • Lukas: Canada
  • Toby: Australia
  • Dilana: South Africa.

Cool!

No Tommy fix tonight!

Oh no… I won’t get my Tommy fix tonight! <gasp! the horror!!>

I’m going to miss Rockstar: SuperNova tonight and I’m so bummed…

Right now, SuperNova is really the only show I look forward to watching during the week, well that and House [which is on right before Rockstar]. So, now that I’ve realized my working late tonight will be interupting my regularly scheduled Rockstar Tuesday Performance night, I’m totally bumming.

I’ll have to post my feedback based on the YouTube feeds I pick-up tomorrow. That sucks… because when we watch it LIVE, I can have our kick-ass surround sound stereo speakers blasting the tv audio. No such fun with the little, itty bitty computer speakers… but i guess I’ll just have to survive.

Plus you never get the WHOLE picture of the night, just the performances… which means I’m going to miss the whole drama of the Dilana glass smashing incident from yesterday’s reality episode. CRAP! The would have been good to see. Someone is going to have to fill me in on the juicy details!

Oh well… at least I’ll get a Tommy fix tomorrow; now that is something to look forward to!

Poohhead2Do you have pets? We do… two beloved feline furkids Kodiak and Mackenzie. For the last few days, my oldest 10 yr. furkid Kodi seems to be a little sick.

My ‘Pooh-head Buffalonius’ has been vomiting everyday, multiple times a day for the last 5 days straight. This is NOT the norm for him at all! Kodi gets the odd furball, but nothing like this constant vomiting - poor wee thing. He’s normally NOT a vomit-prone kitty and when this started, red flag went up big time! He eats his food, then a little later it’s up back up. So today I took him to the vet.

I love and hate that place… smells icky and medicinal; kitties are never ‘well’ there and it usually costs at least $50 just to walk in the door; on the other hand our vet is brilliant with cats [her specialty], is very soothing to our animals and makes our kitties well.

We thought the initial problem may be the kitty food.

We picked up a new flat of their prescription, ‘anti-crystal’ forming canned food last week, and within days of opening the new cans from this flat of food, Kodi started getting sick. Mackie - who normally eats EVERYTHING you put in front of her - has been turning her not-so-picky nose up at the new food as well. Hmmm… this was not normal, especially for our feline garbage disposal unit Mackenzie.

What is odd is that it’s the same brand, same flavor and same formula of food… so is the vomiting and the dislike of this batch of food an indication that something digestive is going on, or is it that the food is bad?  We called the vet and she called the Science Diet rep. They have had no other reports of problems and the formula has not been changed. So… we brought him in for a going over.

Dr Z. checked him out… no abdominal pain, no fever, eyes and ears were clear. WHEW! So… she gave him some anti-nausea and antacid injections [we will follow up with an oral version of the same for a full 7 days this week] to help with the nausea and barfing. We also got new foods [different mfg of the same prescription formula] and will try those to see if it is in fact food related. We’re on the watch this week for his state of vomiting and hope [fingers crossed] that he’s through the worst of it.

We’ll update again soon…

Sunday! Already?

Geez… where did the weekend go? It seems like it was Friday yesterday and now all of a sudden I have to go into work tomorrow - my vacation is officially over <sigh>.

So… since I didn’t get much accomplished yesterday [I slept until noon!] except for printing and prepping for a new mini-album, cleaning up a bit and cooking yummy good Butter Chicken, I thought I would try and finish a few pages from the Jacob mini-chipboard album tonight.

The artistic ‘mojo’ is waning a bit after my surge on Thursday night and Friday, but I gave it a kick tonight anyways. I really liked a few of the elements I used in this new mini-album… and the others I’ll either improve, or learn to live with them LOL!

Here are the first few pages for your viewing pleasure:Jacobmini02

Products used:

  • Maya Road 6×6 Binder Album
  • paperWERX FRESH! Collection - Ocean, Limeade and Dazed and Confused papers
  • Lazar StudioWERX Au Naturel Chipboard Tags
  • custom die cut brackets and asteriks
  • digiWERX Evidence brushes in ’stamp’ form
  • Heidi Swapp Alphabets [not sure if these or Maya Road chipboard will be in Kits]
  • handwriting and hand drawn flourishes by me using Pilot Fineliner, Sharpie Marker and Sakura Souffle White gel pen

Thanks for looking =)

Now I’m off to deal with the ’science’ experiment in my kitchen… I brewed tea a few days ago and forgot to refrigerate the leftovers, after I poured it into another container. With all the warm weather we’ve been having and unrefridgerated tea… apparently I’ve started growing some form of pond scum in a glass jar. Ewwww! [probably MORE information than you needed to hear!] I’m off… wish me luck!

Mini-album addiction…
posted by: admin in Uncategorized on 08 25th, 2006 | | 2 Comments »

Ok… I’m becoming a mini-album addict. You see, I have to ‘work out’ the Kits I’m creating for Circle Craft in November, and in order to do that I need to actually do some artwork using the product that I ‘think’ will be in the Kits [and add the products I used in the sample INTO the Kits!]

So… yesterday evening, while Carmi completed her ATC-a-Day, I started working in one of the new Maya Road 4×4 Binder Albums that we’re going to be using in the Kits. I completed the album this afternoon and just gotta share that I LOVE these albums!! I just couldn’t stop working in them.
The binder albums are chipboard with chipboard pages that are, are you ready, removable! So, instead of trying to work in a bound chipboard album, you can take the pages apart and work on the pages individually. BRILLIANT!! Thank you Deb and Caroline of Maya Road for such cool stuff =)

Here is the finished mini-album in all it’s diminutive glory [and yes, that is grass in the photos, I shot the mini-album outside LOL!].

Mountains_v2

We [the terrible trio of me, Terry and Carmi] drove to the Whistler/Blackcomb mountains today along the Sea-to-Sky Highway. It started off a little grey this morning, but turned into a gorgeous day by the time we got to the mountains.

The drive up took much longer than originally anticipated [I’ve driven this route MANY times in between 1.5-2 hours] due to major roadwork and highway construction in preparation for the 2010 Winter Games.  Lots of slowing down and a few delay stoppages ended up making a 2 hour drive a nearly 3+ hour one - yuck. We stopped in Squamish for the obligatory pee and drink break LOL! and then carried on to Whistler, arriving just shy of 1:30pm. Starving when we arrived, we had a great lunch at Earl’s Bistro and then strolled the Village.

Gallery_july1_3_lgThe best part of the day was the Gondola ride up to the 6000ft. Whistler Peak. GORGEOUS ride up…  blue skies were dotted with fluffy white clouds, lots of great views and a cool breeze blowing through the gondola windows. Perfect <sigh>. We made it to the top by 4:45pm [it’s a 25 min. ride up], but could only stay for about 20 min. since the last gondola back DOWN was at 5:30pm. Too bad… BUT we did have Carmi take our picture with the giant Inukshuk logo for the 2010 Games at the Peak. Nukkie [as we residents fondly, or NOT so fondly call him] was constructed in large granite slabs, and for a change, he looked quite cool. Normally, Nukkie looks cartoonish and unimpressive in his usual primary crayola color logo images. Seeing the logo and mascot of the 2010 Games rendered in granite was great!  So…. we snapped some pics on Carmi’s camera, wandered around a bit in the refreshing wind [about a 20km wind I might add!] and then turned around to head back DOWN the mountain in our gondola.

High_noteOn the way down, we were on the look out for bears [there had been sightings reported earlier in the day at different gondola towers] and sure enough… in the brush, looking for berries was a baby black bear. So cool! Even though we were pretty high up, we got a good, clear look view of the chubby bear from the gondola and really cool to see. We saw him/her between Tower 18 and 19.

We grabbed coffees from Starbucks after we arrived safely on the ground, had a quick snack and began the long drive home. Luckily, most of the construction activities for the day were over by the time we left Whistler and we were able to make it home, through Vancouver all the way into Richmond in about 2 hours - just in time for Rockstar SuperNova.

All in all - a great day!

Yup Patrice got the boot… knew it would eventually happen. Guessed right on 2 of the B3 as well.

Can you believe Dilana? What a cow… she’s hopefully learned from the experience and won’t bad-mouth her fellow rockers again.

Lukas needs to learn when to shut up too. His initial interview response about "not wanting to bash the rockers" was perfecto… the "I don’t need a dove!" and "she needs to stay out of my business" comments regarding what Dilana said weren’t too cool.

Next to go… My early prediction is Toby.
