9390991_1_7Rockstar: SUPERNOVA Finale Recap…

Yesterday’s performance show was spectacular… so much talent on that stage.

I felt the order for elimination would be Magni, Toby, Dilana with Lukas the last Rocker standing. Magni would be the first to go, he’s great, but not SuperNova material. So in my gut I knew that it would come down to Dilana, Toby and my man Lukas.

Tonight was another great show and sure enough, Magni was out first. Then more performances and the next cut from the final three to the final two. While I was a little nervous, my instincts said from the very beginning of this series that Dilana and Lukas would be the last two standing, and sho’ nuff… I was right. Toby was next on the chopping block. So now, it was down to the final two… I started getting really nervous.

20060906_episode210c_0937From the beginning I’ve always said Lukas [he has the look, the sound, the moves on stage, the songwriting skills] would be the man, but just for a second I thought: ‘What if they do the opposite to SHOCK everyone?!?’… Nah, I kept telling myself, they’ll do the right thing. GIlby talks about both of them for a second and then, to keep us in suspense a just little longer, the buggers went to a commercial! Argh the suspense - not good for my migraine addled brain right now LOL…

So they come back from commercial, and Tommy compliments BOTH rockers, and then the big reveal… Dilana we love you but… Lukas is our man. HELL YA! and once again, I was right. Tommy Lee and the boys picked our Canadian, once-homeless, Torontonian rocker Lukas to front the band. SO COOL!!! The now complete SUPERNOVA band took to the stage with Lukas front and centre, Gilby and Jason on the left and right, my man Tommy on the drums. It was all good… Magni even came in to play a song with Gilby on guitar.

Ah…. it’s good when you can say ‘I told you so!’

Quickie post… more later!

Spent much of this weekend going through boxes and boxes of JUNK in our office at home this weekend. Wow, what a difference! We turfed 3 hefty bags full of garbage, 4 boxes of books and a load of empty cardboard to the recycling depot on Sunday… now we have a significantly more spacious office area with loads of room to work in. MUCH BETTER!

Metro01In between loads to the dump and recycling, I managed to squeeze in time to finish off 4 - 8×10 and 4 - 9×12 giclee reproductions of my original artwork. Applied to 1.5" gallery wrapped canvasses, these giclees look amazing [if I do say so myself]. I’ve photographed them and will be adding them to my ETSY store.

Here is a sampling and the link to my storefront. All the giclees will be available for sale, and if you purchase multiples I will adjust the price accordingly. Buy all four listed and you will receive a cash back bonus. [Geez… I sold like a car salesman LOL!]

Yesterday was shipping day, so I went off to Point Roberts in the afternoon. Such a gorgeous day… Sunny and cool, fall is definitely in the air - but if it could stay like yesterday for another month, I wounldn’t complain <wink!>. Unfortunately the evening was marred by a nasty migraine [started at about 5pm]… so not much else was accomplished.

Later this week ARTistry info will be posted and registration will begin on October 1. So be sure to visit the site on Sept. 15, 2007!

Catch ya later alligator =)

9390991_1_5Well I’m very disappointed in the ‘boys’. Based on their critiques and criteria about SONG WRITING skills, Dilana should have been the one to go tonight. Storm being booted is just not right…

Don’t get me wrong… I like Dilana. A LOT. But, when the guys comprimise their previous critiques and comments to keep on the person who can’t write an original song isn’t fair. Booo… Bad Tommy!
However, that said… I can only imagine what kind of a distraction Miss Storm would be with regards to Tommy [testosterone] Lee and the rest of the touring band. Hmm…

Oh well… at least we got to hear Headspin again from Lukas. LOVE that song… very powerful.

Rockstar: SuperNova - Week 10

All I can say is WOW… the Rockers are really showing that they got some mad skills! Some more than others [Dilana].

Last night each Rocker had to perform a 2 song set: one cover and one original. Lukas, Toby, Magni and Storm all rocked their cover songs and each of their originals were outstanding [Headspin by Lukas was my favorite].

  • Lukas was FAB in singing his original HeadSpin. Very cool tune, I’m going to download it soon!
  • Storm was a surprise for me last night… HUGE improvement over previous shows and was really demonstrating WHAT she can really do.
  • Magni was good too… not overwhelming, but great none the less
  • Toby is really showing some talent, not just that he’s a cutie. His original was very catchy and I could definitely see that song getting some radio play. EVS!
  • Dilana… not so much. Yes the girl can sing, and perform with the best of them… but BIG chinks in her armor are showing in the song writing department. Her lyrics are schlocky and hokey, she write [as Gilby put it] too literally and with no real imagination.

It’s unfortunate, but ultimately SuperNova is looking for not only a strong singer/performer, but a songwriter too. If they stick to their original direction and intent of hiring a multi-dimension musician, in good conscience, they have to boot Dilana tonight. It’s too bad… but realistically this has been a HUGE launch pad for her career and I’m sure we’ll be hearing a lot from her i the future.

B3 prediction: Dilana, Magni and Storm
Bootage: Dilana - Buh bye girly - we’ll miss you!

First of many…

PaintingSome people know that all our paperWERX designs are based on my handpainted original artwork. Those that didn’t know, well yep, it’s true… ALL our papers start as individual handpainted, original artworks on unstretched canvas. After much thought, encouragement and consideration [from friends and family], I’ve begun mounting the artwork on large 18"x36" canvasses and thought I would share the first of many to come…

This piece is from the FRESH! Pink collection… The photograph just doesn’t do it justice.
Who knew that photographing a piece of artwork would be so difficult in my home?!? The lighting is not the best, but I did what I could. I’ll reshoot these again later in better lighting conditions, but for now I just couldn’t wait to share.

I hope to begin selling these original canvasses in a variety of sizes through ESTY in the next week or so. I’ll post when my ESTY store is open, if anyone cares LOL!

Thanks for looking =)

Update on the Kodster…

Mackies_1 Well it’s been a week and the KodiBoy and Mackenzie are MUCH better! We’ve changed their food to Medi-Cal and the problem has pretty much resolved itself. Thank goodness! We’ve been giving Kodi an anti-nausea oral medication for about a week and between that and the food change, he’s right as rain again. Mackie is back eating again, thank goodness she didn’t get as sick as Kodiak did!

People think we’re a little crazy about how we fuss over our kitties, but they are family… our kids… and when your kid is sick, you do whatever it takes to make them well. We’re just lucky that this was a minor problem that a change in food addressed.

On this new food, the two of them are eating like they had been starved for a week. Which I guess isn’t that far off the mark, since both of them were either getting sick, or not eating that last flat of food we brought home. It’s so good to see them eating well again, gaining back a bit of the weight they lost and appearing to be much friskier!

We’re now just waiting for the final tox. report on the ‘bad’ food. I’m 100% that it was the problem and what made our fur-kids sick. For now.. I’m just happy they are well again, and eating normally.

Yesterday had a wicked migraine, and it threw a monkey wrench into my plans for the day…
So today, I am going to begin on a few new projects [that I had hoped to start yesterday!]

  1. Starting the webpages for the ARTistry 2007 event we’re holding in March 2007
  2. Start photographing my acrylic canvasses to post online and make available for purchase
  3. Photograph and post online two LIMITED EDITION canvasses that feature the original FRESH! Collection designs from the Pink/Yellow/Red and Orange family. Each of these canvasses are 18"x36" and can be purchased either together as a pair… or individually.

I’ll be back with photographs of the canvasses later today/tonight!
