catch up and Circle Craft Sneak Peeks…
posted by: admin in StudioWERX, events on 10 28th, 2008 | | 4 Comments »

hey all…

so sorry to be absent the last week or so, I’m super crazy work wise and running like the proverbial chicken with my head chopped off lol!

my weekend was pretty nutty and included a very long teaching day in sechelt, bc up on the sunshine coast. it was a wonderful class at the art escape studio in half-moon bay with lots of eager and excited students in attendance. I was thrilled to introduce people to my art of transference full day workshop and initiate many image transfer virgins into the wide and exciting world of image transfer. the day started very early for me - 5am!! - since I had to catch a ferry to go up the coast at 7:20am. a lot of coffee, a 3 hour trek and a sunrise ferry ride later, i was in half-moon bay, just outside of sechelt teaching an eager group at 10am. we packed it in 6 hours later and i started my trek home exhausted and yet satisfied that my students had a very informative and hopefully fun educational experience.

the next day was portobello west and another early morning of packing up the truck for the haul over to the art exhibition space. i had a great day selling a couple of large pieces and a few smaller originals and watercolour reproductions. so yes, while i had a totally and utterly exhausting weekend, it was a really really good one!

so now that i’ve caught you up on recent events, here is a fun sneak peek at two new stamp sets we are debuting at Circle Craft in a little over 2 weeks - I can’t believe that it is coming THAT SOON!!! how does this always happen? seems like forever for the show to arrive and then when it does, I’m never completely prepared! ack…

anyways… here is a peek at my new favorite - bird brained. a quirky botanical and bird inspired set that oozes personality.

Bird Brained

and another set called Pretty Grunge that is inspired by grunge, flourish borders and corners. lots of potential with these babies and the sheet includes no less than three 8″ long borders for cards, stationary and scrapbook layouts:

i  have just completed my 2009 limited edition giclee calendars! i’m so excited that i had to share with you. the nitty gritty…

This 2009 Calendar features some of my favorite mixed media collages in an unusual 4×6 format. Each 2009 calendar is numbered and signed on the bellyband that wraps around your elegantly packaged set.

The 2009 calendar is limited to 50 reproductions only and will not be produced again. The first 10 will be listed on ETSY, with the remaining calendars available locally in Vancouver BC or through my website.

The design of the calendar is such that as each month changes, you simply crop off the dates and keep the beautifully printed limited edition artwork for framing or display on it’s own. Each calendar comes with a specially designed 4×6 photo frame CD case that allows you to easily display your calendar on a desk or end table. Here are some additional details:

  • 12 - 4×6 months
  • printed on 400gsm archival, museum quality watercolour paper
  • vivid, bright colouruniquely designed
  • limited to 50 numbered sets!

to purchase this calendar, visit my etsy site at www.studiowerx.etsy.com or visit me at portobello west in november. these calendars will be shipping in early november so purchase or reserve now.

with the worst cold i’ve had in a long while. between ‘trying’ to get stuff done for circle craft and ‘trying’ to work i’ve been attacked by a nasty cold bug and man i am not a happy camper. i have a lot to do in the next few weeks and this is not the best time to be this sick.

oh well… so if you’ve emailed and haven’t yet heard from me, hang in there… i’m probably in bed, with a thermometer in my mouth, kleenex up my very congested nose and sucking on a throat losenge. i’ll be returning emails as soon as i can!

me! me! it’s my birthday this weekend and i’ve been working hard. so thought it was time to reward myself a little bit… i finally got my second camera so now i can shoot events, people and general stuff with two cameras without having to swap lenses all the time. yay!

i have been running about with my rebel xt for quite a while now and while i love it, i knew i would need another camera if i was going to take photography seriously. so, after much looking, i decided on a canon 40d. i gotta say that i got a kick ass deal on the nearly new gear through a reseller online - it’s a canon factory refurbish and it cost about 40% less than regular retail. yipee!! so here i am with my new shooter…

happy birthday to me =)

this video struck a major cord for me and hopefully it will for you.

with both a canadian federal and US federal election on the books in the next few weeks, a PSA about registering to vote from hollywood elite speaks volumes about why we should all be responsible adults and exercise our right to make a choice. this choice is very important, since it will determine who we want to lead our countries and what direction we want our countries to move in. think about that. and while you’re thinking, have a look at this…
