With Autumn upon us and the opportunity for ‘non-rainy’ evening photo shoots quickly coming to an end, I decided to head out at 7pm for a quick [well, not so quick - I was out for over an hour] photo shoot at the Richmond Olympic Oval [aka ROO].
ROO is one of the premier 2010 Winter Olympic Venues and it’s where I’ll be volunteering for VANOC for 2-3 weeks. It’s a beautiful building by day, but it’s really magical at night! Here are some photos from the evening and a link to an online gallery of my favorite shots. Enjoy!
The image above features a spectacular public art piece by Janet Echelman called Water Sky Garden.
This amazing art work was a significant part of the overall landscape design for the ROO building and has also been the inspiration for numerous editorial articles in very well known/respected landscape and architecture design publications.
All the photos were shot at ISO 100 using a 17-85mm lens, on tripod, with shutter-release cable at various exposure times from 1/4 sec to 25 secs.
