my last public art showing of the year is now done, and for those of you interested, i’ve posted the new works in my ETSY store.

there are 20 new original artworks and in the coming week i’ll be listing more pendants, fun adjustable ring, collector buttons and a few more small items.

i’m happy to say a few of my favorite pieces have gone collectively to new homes. deb, sorry to say the goth girls are gone =( but at least they were purchased by a couple who took all three and will undoubtedly give them a lovely new home. my blue and orange series is also now off to a good home, in fact to a fellow portobello artist - great news, i know she’ll love them for a very long time.

the great thing about the remaining artwork is that now i have new pieces for MY walls at home. i love changing the artwork in the house over and around, and now i have my very own personal inventory to rotate. love that. terry also really enjoys the new pieces, so later tonight i’ll be hanging a collection on my dining room wall… probably in a big mosaic style. yeah, there will be holes in the wall, but who cares? the artwork collection will be amazing!

that’s it for now… off to hang artwork and unpack my boxes from yesterday. catch you all later =)

as i creep towards 325 posts…

Portbelloteas
i can’t believe in the last two years of steady[ish] blogging i’m almost at the 325 mark. who knew?

anyway… i have a sneak peek of some new artwork for my show tomorrow [or later today - depending when you read this]. i have about 12 new pieces in addition to a bunch of other new work left from the snowed-out show i was in two weeks ago. i really love these new pieces… i played with tinting my image transfers, then adding some illustrative details and love the subtle look of them.

good news! i finished the big piece all 24×32 inches of her. i love it. it’s so big and has a slightly warholish vibe with the oversized image transfer. i’ll be bringing it with me to portobello west tomorrow and will post picks of it here tomorrow… varnish is still drying so i’ve got to wait before i can standing it up for photographing.

oh, and just a little reminder folks… ALL my original artwork is handmade. no digital here. it’s all the real macoy, down to the paint stained fingernail [so attractive!], varnish and paint splattered t-shirt and trashed, calloused fingernails and cuticles. they are labours of love and i hope you like them. i certainly do.

well, i’m off to bed to get a good night’s sleep for the big day tomorrow. be sure to pop bye and say hi if you make it out to portobello west. i’m in booth #108. ciao for now, have a great weekend!

2007cfpaperwerxings
hey all…

well, i’m coming up for air from my very productive art room [i’ve got 12-15 new pieces in different stages of completion!] for a public service announcement of sorts:

many of know who follow my blog know that i’m participating in 2 artshows this december and the first one is just around the corner. here are the details…

creative finds
paperWERXings: Original Mixed Media Collage artworks and accessories
date: december 1, 2007 from 9:00am [what an ungodly hour!] to 8pm
where: sullivan community hall, located at 6306 - 152nd street [near 64th ave], surrey bc
artists: up to 30 unique artists from a variety of mediums

  • i will be selling 6×6, 8×8, 12×12 and a few special oversized pieces of original mixed media collage on hardboard canvasses. prices range from $45 for the smaller pieces to $300 for a very large piece. these are great prices for original artwork and hopefully people will fall in love with them and buy them!
  • i will also have a variety of my sold artworks available as
reproduction 1.5" buttons and 1" rings. these make great stocking stuffers
since they are at a much lower price point than my original pieces.
you will be able to purchase the pins individually or in groups of 5 for $2.50/pin or $10 for the set.
the rings will be selling for $4 each.
  • i have a good number of NEW artwork in process specifically for this show, a sneak peek will be available on thursday, later this week. there are a few botanicals in the mix with my portrait/fashion ones so hopefully that will appeal to a broader market.

i’m a little freaked out, a little nervous and super pumped about the show next weekend. i hope some of you in the area [vancouver i mean] will be able to come out for a visit and check out the new artworks. see you on saturday! in the meantime… back to the studio!

In the midst of it all…

I needed a break from the mad packaging of 300lb of rubber for next weeks Kick Start event, so I finished off 4 new pieces of artwork that have been in various stages for about 2 weeks.

The new pieces are definitely edgy and very very urban in inspiration. The series is called Graffitiesque and is now available in my ETSY store. Here you go… enjoy the Halloween eye candy and have a BOOtiful day!

i’ve just listed some new eyecandy in my etsy store. i hope you like them. i just finished them tonight and couldn’t wait to get them posted!

also… i’m going to be participating in a art show in surrey on december 1. visit this website - creative finds.ca - for more information. i may need some moral-supporters [kinda like an artistic athletic support LOL - someone who’ll tell me, even if no one buys my art, i’m doing a-ok], so if you want to help me out for the day, let me know… i can pay you in product, art, cash or simply the pleasure of my company ;^)

have a great week peeps…
c-out!

super happy… but a little sad…
posted by: admin in ETSY on 09 27th, 2007 | | 2 Comments »

Il_fullxfull11353271this morning i received etsy emails that 2 of my mixed media collages have sold on etsy. love that!

it’s so cool and really validating to have your artwork purchased by people you’ve never met, who live in another country, thousands of miles from you. it means that you are achieving what you’ve set out to do, make beautiful artwork that people enjoy. it’s not just your friends and family buying your art, supporting your artistic endeavours [although i LOVE them mightily for doing that!!! THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!]. it’s someone you don’t know. someone your artwork has struck a chord with, and that my friends is a great feeling.

but it’s a little sad too. i have loved having these pieces in my studio. i have them positioned in my enormous ikea ‘cubby-style’ wall unit. each looking at me and me looking at them. inspiring my new work and making me want to dig out the paint and paper everytime i pass by them.

i’ll miss them. especially ‘bloomsbury girl’ [shown above]. her eyes and the color of this piece turned out magically. really lovely. i’ll definitely work with this image and palette again. it’s so soft and feminine.

BUT the whole point of putting the artwork out there on etsy is to sell it. i’m glad she’s finding her way to a new, artfilled home. even if it is across the country in the southern usa [where i’ll never see her again]. at least i have great pics of the original artwork for posterity =)

i used my etsy artwork as the source for the video, but you could pretty much use anything you want. love this…

check out animoto today! you can create a FREE mini-short [30 secs] instantly.
[geez… i sound like a public service announcement]

Commissions and ETSY Treasury

i finally got in on one of those ETSY Treasury thingies… so cool! it’s a chance to highlight your favorite stuff on ETSY and if you’re needing some exposure, adding a few of your own pieces to your treasury listing doesn’t hurt. here is the link to mine

i’m also now doing commissioned mixed media portraits! check out my latest listing for more information. the nitty gritty of it is you send me your photo, we determine the size you want, discuss color options and then i create your special commissioned artwork. fun and really cool [in my humble opinion].

have a great back-to-school week everyone! watch for rug rats in the crosswalks…

New artwork…

i love long weekends… i’m feeling super productive lately and having the long weekend gives me additional time to let things percolate in my head.

usually, i’m working on multiple artworks at the same time and feel the need to finish pieces before i lose my creative train of thought… with a long weekend that need to get things finished, before i’m back to the ‘real’ 9-5 work, is put aside and i can really focus on what i’m doing. did that make sense??

the downside of all this creative productivity? the vacuuming isn’t done, i really should dust, the laundry is piling up a little bit, we’re eating leftovers for dinner [or ordering in]. but at least my bathroom and kitchen are clean. ahhhh well. t understands. he loves the new works and is encouraging me to make more pieces… isn’t he the best?

btw, i’ve added an ETSY widget to my blog so whenever new pieces pop up, you can see them right away on the blog menu…

thanks for looking and enjoy what’s left of the long weekend =)
