my bloggy absence this week now has an explanation…

after much consideration and encouragement, yet again by DH terry, the stars have aligned and it’s happening… i’ve decided to release a limited edition coffee table book of my recent mixed media collage portraits!

it’s an 80 page, full colour book, measures 7×7 and is crammed with full colour versions of all my mixed media collages. cool huh?

i though it would be a fun thing to do and and something i’ve wanted to do for a long long time.

in the next few weeks, i’ll be listing my first group of limited edition paperWERXings: mixed media collage books on etsy. but, you’ll see it here first, and once i have the actual books in my hands, sneak peeks will be available as well… i could show you the computer sneak peeks of the book now, but that would be cheating lol! you’re just gonna have to wait, like me.

next on the horizon… finally self-publishing a ‘how-to’ book on image transfer. another item on my list of ‘i want to do [this]’. maybe in the next month or so. watch for updates on that book coming soon!

to celebrate the new year, i’ve added a bunch of new products that have been percolating in my studio/digital studio for a while now and the time has come to finally release them!

also, we’ve revamped our pricing in a few of our online store departments including paperWERX and digiWERX sections. due to the recent changes in the USA/CAD exchange rates, we’ve dropped our canadian dollar pricing to reflect what we would normally charge our US customers [who have enjoyed an up to 15% discount for a while now…]

we hope that this makes our digital products in particular more enticing… the purchase price on these artist created, original, digital-art papers and brushes is pretty darn competitve and we hope that you can take advantage of the price breaks we’re now offering.

yeah… so i got on a roll last night [or should i say very very early this morning].

i really enjoyed making these. playing with Photoshop is something i give myself time for that often. when i do allow myself the time and opportunity though, i quickly remember why it is that i love this program so much. it’s like painting, only with undo buttons and options to erase. lopve that!

Weds. November 7 from 7-8:30pm: Festive Folders
A cleverly folded manilla folder becomes an accordion album to hold precious memories. Cost: $25 including Kit.

Thurs. November 8 from 7-8:30pm: Letters to Santa
A festive letter keeper that is displayed as part of your holiday decor and as a place to reveal your holiday wishes.  Cost: $25 including Kit.

For the last 4 years, we have had a booth at the Annual Circle Craft Christmas show, held at Canada Place in Vancouver. We’ve loved being in that venue, but times are a changing for StudioWERX…

We now have a storefront, studioWERX on Main [our store within Ruby Dog’s Arthouse], and are in a situation where we can sell our products to our consumers in a different environment. So what are we to do?? Well…  this year, for the first time in 5 years, we will NOT be attending the Circle Craft Christmas Show. Instead, we will be doing a 5-day Seasonal Event called Kick Start the Festivities in our storefront!

By visiting and shopping at our store, you won’t have to pay admission like you do at Circle Craft, there is free parking, lots of room and great, NEW products to check out. The bonus having our event in the store is that not only will we be demoing and doing Make and Takes throughout the day, we will also be offering Festive Craft classes for the first time!

My friend and fellow paper artist Becky will be teaching 5 Festive Craft classes over the 5 day event, that will range from beginner to more advanced and will focus on Christmas oriented crafts! It’s a great opportunity to get some art projects and gifts completed before the holiday season begins; it’s a great way to try out new products you haven’t used before; and it’s a great opportunity to hang out, enjoy some festive spirit and kick start your holiday season!
